Excitement

Have you caught the excitement of worshiping God? That joy you feel after sitting still before Him, after meditating on who He is and all His benefits? The total surrender and trust that comes from reveling in the greatness, the glory, the majesty of our God, our Creator, our Savior? So why should we anticipate boredom in an eternity of worship? Of course, we will have our tasks on the new earth that God is going to create for us, but everything we do will be worshipful. How exciting is that?

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth
for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away,
and the sea was no more.
Revelation 21:1

The book of Revelation gives us a glimpse of what our worship will be about. First we see from John's vision that God is worshiped because He existed in His holiness as Lord God Almighty from eternity past, through the present and into eternity to come.

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty,
who was and is and is to come.
Revelation 4:8

So much is contained in those few words! No wonder God called Himself the I AM. To always be present is wrapped up in those two simple words by which He named Himself. And the Almighty is and was and will always be all-powerful, omnipotent. To call Him holy is to recognize His "otherness", the fact that we can never fully understand Him, His perfection, His majesty, His glory. He is totally outside our realm of comprehension and existence—except that He has made Himself known to us as much as we can know Him. In His holiness, He reached out to us in our total lack of holiness. Yet he wants to set us apart, to give us some of that holiness. Awesome!
John also sees our Triune God as the Creator and Sustainer of all things:

Worthy are you, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.
Revelation 4:11

As I've shared from Scripture before, all creation is a display of God's glory. Man has yet to find the limits of space. The earth itself with all its beauty and complexities screams out the incredible glory and power of God. Even the natural disasters that man cannot prevent or control display His power. How an we not honor and worship such a God?

Then there is the praise for the Lamb who was slain, for our Redeemer. Without this sacrifice, we would be forever without access to God, without the blessings of His goodness, forever growing in our natural depravity. But God loved us enough to send Jesus to take on our sin and free us forever to grow in righteousness! Can we ever thank Him enough? No wonder our worship will take all eternity to be expressed!

In John's vision, there is a sealed scroll that needs to be opened but in all of heaven there is no one worthy enough to take that scroll, to open the seals and to read what it contained. Only Jesus.

Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God,
that they shall reign on the earth.
Revelation 5:9-10

Christ's ransom is available to all, but only not all accept that ransom. But we who are ransomed will one day reign on the earth! Because of all that and more,
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing...
To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!
Revelation 5:12, 13

All I can say is, "wow". I find myself filled with excitement and anticipation for the day when I shall see Him in all His glory! Not just the taste I have as I commune with Him here on earth, but ALL His glory. I am humbled and excited; are you?
